Spray Coating Glass Bottles: Color, Finish and Durability
Spray coating is the most flexible way to give clear bottles a brand color.

What spray coating does
A lacquer is applied to the clear bottle and then cured, producing an opaque, translucent, gradient or soft-touch finish. It lets the same bottle be produced in many colors without changing the glass mold.
Matching and curing
Colors are matched to a Pantone reference and confirmed on a sample. Curing is critical to a durable finish, and coated bottles are tested with cross-cut adhesion and alcohol resistance. Typical MOQ is around 3,000 pieces.

Coating variations and how to choose them
Beyond a solid color, the same coating process can produce a translucent tint that shows the liquid, an opaque finish that hides it, a gradient from the base to the shoulder and a soft-touch matte surface. Opaque and soft-touch options generally require a white base layer for an even result, while translucent tints rely on the glass itself. Choosing the coating type and whether the liquid should show through is part of the design decision, not a production detail.
Because the coating is cured and then tested for adhesion and resistance to alcohol, the order of operations matters: a bottle that will also carry foil or print is coated first, with the additional decoration applied and tested afterward to ensure the layers bond correctly.
